Centenary of Nudgee School of Arts Hall

21 Sep 2014

The Nudgee School of Arts was built and opened in 1914 and brought back to life by the Nundah & Districts Youth Club Inc. (Banyo Branch) in 1989, 25 years ago with assistance from Nundah Lions, Rotary and Rotaract.

The Bangee Festival was held in showground park and the Hall for over 10 years. There has been ballet. Gymnastics, boxing, jujitsu, judo, eisteddfods, concerts, Indoor bowls, euchre, library, trivia nights, dances, 21st birthdays, engagement parties, weddings and Balls - all held in the Hall over time. It was an integral part of the community.

An organising committee has been formed to help celebrate the 100th birthday and are planning this event for Sunday 21st September from 11am—3pm. We are looking for stalls in the park. You will be hearing more about what is happen-ing closer to the event.

Have you or your family got any photos, memorabilia from events held in this Hall anytime in the last 100 years? We would love to see what you have and maybe hear your story.!! You can contact Pat Carbis on Phone 0417708262 or email patriciacarbis@y7mail.com.

The Banyo District Community Group Inc - meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 7pm at the upstairs meeting room of the Banyo library, 284 St Vincents Rd. Banyo.
